At the recent ACT Prince of Wales Awards held in Canberra at Government House, His Excellency, General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, presented a Prince of Wales Award to ACT recipient Major Ryan Barwick. His excellency read the following message from His Royal Highness Prince William, The Prince of Wales, who congratulated all Prince of Wales recipients across the country:
“For almost four decades The Prince of Wales Awards have recognised the dedication and commitment to the Australian Defence Force service by reservists and their civilian employers.”
“Those who serve in Australia’s Defence Reserves, and those who enable that service, make a significant contribution to the Australian Defence Force capability.”
“To receive a Prince of Wales Award is an outstanding achievement; I congratulate the 2023 recipients.”
“To be recognised in this way, recipients must demonstrate a commitment to service above self, a strong work ethic, self-discipline, and a determination to make a positive contribution to the workplace and community. These are traits to be admired.”
“I commend all involved in The Prince of Wales Awards in Australia for furthering and strengthening their impact.”
Applications for the 2024 40th anniversary awards have now closed.
